Dr. Shehkar Bhansali

Lucent Technologies CALA Distinguished University Professor

Dr. Shekhar Bhansali is a Lucent Technologies CALA Distinguished University Professor in the Florida International University (FIU), having previously served as the Director of the U.S. National Science Foundation Division of Electrical, Communications, and Cyber Systems for 2 years. Dr. Shekhar Bhansali’s expertise is in the field of biosensors, microfluidics, nanostructured catalysts and microsystems. He has a background in developing microfluidic tools for DNA damage detection, 3D multicellular spheroid monitoring, real-time biomarker monitoring, automated cell health monitoring, cardiovascular diagnostic sensors, and many other diagnostic devices.

Dr. Dongmei Dong

Research Scientist at FIU

Dr. Dong is a principal investigator leading several cutting-edge research efforts at FIU. Most notably, she is working to develop a PEM Fuel Cell membrane diagnostics tool funded by the M2FCT Consortium, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and the U.S. Department of Energy. She is the author of nearly 20 peer-reviewed journal publications, and a mentor to graduate and undergraduate students FIU. Her research interests are broad, spanning from fuel cells to sensor development to pseudocapacitive electrochemical charge storage across condensed matter physics, solid state chemistry and materials science and engineering disciplines.

Ana Carolina Posadas is the Research Coordinator for ASTERIX at FIU. She has a Master in Arts from the University of Reading, England, and a Bachelor’s in Literature from Universidad de Monterrey, Mexico.  She has experience teaching, researching, creating course content, and coordinating projects.

Dr. Sastry Pamidi

Chair & Professor

Dr. Sastry V. Pamidi has been working on superconducting materials and devices since 1986. Sastry has been a researcher at Florida State University Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS) since its inception in 2001. He leads a multidisciplinary research group at CAPS on superconducting power devices and related applied cryogenics.
